Why we curated this watch

  • A purpose-built tool watch designed for versatility  -  The Nimrod combines 200 metres of water resistance, a 12 hour bezel for tracking a second time zone and a 1200 HV hardened case for enhanced scratch resistance, making it well suited for travel, sports and everyday use  - all at an accessible price point.

  • Despite its subtle dive-watch aesthetic, the Nimrod is equally suited for everyday wear. With its balanced proportions and slim 10.9 mm thickness profile, it is designed to fit comfortably under the cuff of a shirt.

More on this watch

Abinger presents the Nimrod as a watch shaped by travel and exploration, both in purpose and inspiration. The name "NIMROD" draws inspiration from multiple sources, including the Nimrod aircraft (a British maritime patrol aircraft known for its performance and capabilities) and the legendary anglo-irish explorer Ernest Shackleton’s historic expedition to the south Pole in a ship named NIMROD. In this context, the Abinger Nimrod embodies a spirit of movement and curiosity - designed as a companion for journeys, whether across continents or through everyday life.

The Abinger Nimrod’s case is defined by its well-balanced proportions. The 38.5 mm case diameter and the compact 45 mm lug-to-lug length makes it a suitable watch for a wide range of wrist sizes. Made from stainless steel, the case is treated with a 1200 HV resistance coating, giving it a surface that is several times tougher than standard steel. This treatment significantly reduces the likelihood of scratches and keeps the watch looking sharp even with daily use. A guarded crown adds an extra layer of protection, reinforcing its tool-oriented character. The dial is shielded by a sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating for enhanced clarity, while an exhibition caseback (also with sapphire crystal) offers a view of the movement in operation - adding a subtle mechanical charm to its case design.

The dial of the Abinger Nimrod – Ardent Fell looks clean and calm at a glance. Its rich brown sunburst finish sets a warm and balanced backdrop, while the mix of large baton-style markers and Arabic numerals keeps everything clear and legible. The lume-filled hands are equally bold, working in harmony with the hour markers for easy time reading. A subtle touch of yellow used in the brand name text adds a hint of character without drawing too much attention. Around the edge, a raised minute track in white creates a crisp contrast against the darker dial tone. There are no unnecessary details here - just a simple and functional design that remains quietly attractive.

Inside, the watch is powered by a Japanese-made Miyota automatic movement, offering around 42 hours of power reserve - reliable and well suited for everyday use. The Nimrod comes fitted with a stainless steel bracelet, equipped with an on-the-fly adjusting clasp for added comfort throughout the day along with quick-release spring bars that makes it easy to switch straps when needed. Abinger also included a secondary strap in a matching colour tone. Crafted from vegan leather, this option offers a softer, more casual look while complementing the dial’s primary colour.

Who is it for?

The Nimrod is for those who appreciate a sporty watch that is not oversized on the wrist. Its balanced proportions make it an easy companion for daily wear, transitioning seamlessly from work to leisure. At the same time, its build and practical features make it well suited for travel, outdoor activities and exposure to water. The Abinger Nimrod makes a compelling choice for anyone looking for a modern watch that can move effortlessly between everyday life and adventure.
